It can be confusing when the same job offering is being advertised across different platforms and not knowing where is best to send your application through too.

Your first assumption may be to go “𝘥𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘵” to the company, in the hopes that they’re more likely to see it first.

However, if a company has hired an agency to advertise a role on behalf of them, it suggests that they may need additional support in the first place and require a specialist recruitment agency to take responsibility.

In the past, recruitment agencies have often gained a bad reputation. But as time goes on, the need for dedicated recruitment consultants has increased.

Especially due to the current recruitment climate, where exceptional candidates are more difficult to come by. We’ve seen for ourselves here at AvA-V, that organisations are handing over the reigns to specialist and committed recruitment agencies who have the capacity to take on a thorough application process.

So here are six reasons as to 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺.

A recruitment agency is… a specialist within the sector

One of the most obvious reasons to apply through a recruitment agency is because they’re experts at what they do.

They’ll take your application seriously because, in reality, it’s their job to do so.

Recruitment agencies are there to make the application process easier for both candidates and clients. They’re taking your CV, because they think you’re a good fit and in essence, and placing it directly onto the hiring managers desk.

A recruitment agency is… knowledgable of the industry

Recruitment agencies are where they are because they know the ins and outs of the industry better than anyone else. They have the best advice because they’re familiar with what it takes for candidates to get to the top.

They’re required to research the latest trends within the sector, so can pass on any key insights that may help advance you in your application process.

We’re currently experiencing a “Great Candidate Shortage”, where employees aren’t as willing to switch roles, as well as having growing expectations from what a job can offer them.

Recruitment consultants will be aware of this and know how to navigate your application through this period. Take advantage of this ‘𝘮𝘪𝘥𝘥𝘭𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯’ and if you have any specific questions about the role or organisation, the recruitment agency will be happy to handle this on behalf of you.

They also respect that candidates aren’t as willing to wait around for a lengthy and uncertain job process and a recruitment consultant will know how to quickly push your application through on behalf of you.

A recruitment agency is… dedicated to help

Since it’s their role to do so, recruitment agencies have the time to communicate with you and assist with any questions you may have left unanswered.

If you have specific queries about the recruitment process, you may find it difficult to get in touch with the right person at the hiring organisation, or potentially feel as if you are pestering them.

A recruitment agency will be more than happy to help and try their best to provide any information you may require.

A good recruitment agency will do everything to make sure you’re feeling prepared and may be able to offer you interview prep and support.

Here at AvA-V we support individuals through every step of the application process, helping candidates position themselves towards what the client is specifically looking for.

For our graduate recruitment campaigns, which often require a group interview, we hold a team building session before the assessment day to prepare candidates for what’s to come.

This session helps applicants become more familiar with the role, allows them to meet their fellow candidates informally and reduces any nerves before meeting the assessors- setting them up for success!

A recruitment agency has… your application in their best interests

It’s in a recruitment agencies best interests for you to succeed, so they’re going to put the effort in and fight for you to get the role.

They’ve come along this journey with you and whilst getting to know you, have learnt your key attributes to sell to the employer.

Building a strong relationship with a recruitment consultant can set your application apart from the rest and provides the agency with more information to pass on than just your cv.

The organisation has put their trust in this recruitment agency and will value their feedback on specific candidates. Keep this in mind when conversing with a recruitment agency and ensure they’re going to be your biggest advocate.

A recruitment agency will….prioritise communication

Unless you’re the chosen applicant, it’s likely you won’t hear from the organisation again if you apply internally. They’ve found their new hire and are often too busy to reject other candidates- or perhaps they may send the typical standardised ‘unfortunately we won’t be taking your application forward further…’ email, with no valuable feedback as to why.

A good recruitment agency will communicate with you at every opportunity and won’t keep you in the dark with where your application stands.

They’re also likely to provide you with feedback and pointers as to why you may not have secured the role, which you can take on board for your next potential opportunity.

Not to mention, a recruitment agency will be inclined to keep you informed on any unsuccessful applications so they can put you forward to another position they may be working on filling.

This leads us to our final point…

A recruitment agency will… continue to support you

If a particular role doesn’t work out when applying internally, you’re back at square one and left to find alternative roles yourself.

An agency on the other hand, who will know you quite well at this point, would be able to submit your CV to other fitting vacancies.

Recruitment agencies often have the inside scoop on upcoming opportunities that haven’t yet gone live on job boards and can get your name in early on in the process.

𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁… You could drive around looking for ‘𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘚𝘢𝘭𝘦’ signs, but the agents have a list of available ‘𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴’ you don’t have access to.

Applying through a recruitment agency is in your best interests. They have expert consultants who are there to mentor you through every stage of the application process and have a foot already in the door that you want in on.

When you use this relationship to your advantage, it can massively benefit you and make what is usually a difficult period, simple.

At AvA-V, recruitment can sometimes only be the start of our journey together… Not only do our clients work with our recruitment team to onboard new candidates, but also our training divisions to ensure these new employees successfully integrate into the company.

So building a strong relationship with our recruitment consultants from the beginning will help you progress through to your training and you never know, one day you may be a manager using us yourself!
