So... what does a career in Inside Sales really look like?

In short, a career in Inside Sales refers to selling through digital interactions with prospects. So, think of communicating with prospects via the phone and zoom rather than meeting them face-to-face like the typical field sales professionals would do.

It’s safe to say that Covid-19 shook up almost every industry, especially the sales industry.

It has completely revolutionised the way we sell.

We no longer require in-person interactions and face-to-face communication and thanks to our trusty Zoom and Microsoft Teams account’s… we can now rely on digital tools to reach even more clients.

It's a digital world!

A career in Inside Sales means selling remotely using the internet, so there’s no wonder that since 2020 the number of Inside Sales teams has shot up dramatically. In fact, they’re actually growing three times faster than traditional outside reps… who would have ever thought?!

And this is of course thanks to the pandemic, as people quickly discovered the abundance of benefits that working remotely and digitally can have on our lives.

Social selling, the method of leveraging social media to prospect, is taking over how we sell things.

With 78% of social sellers outselling peers who don’t use social media and with buyers more open to making purchasing decisions online, social selling and working digitally is on your side working in Inside Sales.

Ahhh... a predictable schedule

Working online means that a career in Inside Sales provides sales professionals with the option to choose a job title which offers a more structured, yet flexible, lifestyle.

A career as an Outside Sales Representative is known for inconsistency, with weeks never really looking the same. And whilst this may work for some individuals, business people now tend to be after a role that offers a bit more consistency.

As an Inside Sales Representative, you can take full control over your daily schedule and as they’re given targets to reach, can focus on reaching them with minimal disruptions thanks to not having to leave the desk!

A career in sales that offers a better work-life balance? Yes pleaseeee!

Location, Location, Location!

As the business world discovered during the pandemic, remote working does indeed have its benefits. It saves on time spent commuting and travelling around to visit clients.

The digital nature of a career in Inside Sales means that reps can communicate with prospects all over the globe, from their office desk – Breaking down the barriers of time zones and the faff that often comes with travelling.

Traditionally, sales was renowned for lots of travelling – having to visit prospects or going to conferences – but salespeople who prefer a more structured and digital way of working, now have the option to do so by taking on a career in inside sales.
